Headlice Advice

According to a recent newspaper article, research suggests that around 10 per cent of pupils in a school have nits, which in an average primary school is about 40 children at any one time.  Damp, warm weather and an increasing resilience to conventional treatments is to blame for the outbreak, according to one expert. In our attempts to reduce the problem within Alton Park School we asked for some advice from ACE to pass onto parents.  They have provided us with a leaflet – click on the blue button below to view.  Please help us to tackle this problem – check your child’s head on a weekly basis and treat in accordance with the advice. Thank you for your co-operation.  HEADLICE LEAFLET

The Resource Vault (Children’s Society) – Emotional and Mental Health site for children

The Children’s Society website is an absolute treasure-trove of information with just about everything young people need to know about emotional and mental health. Called the Resource Vault, the resources are organised by age group. Each entry has further links about where to find more information. Although aimed at young people themselves, its a good resources for staff working with them to dip into.

Essex Health & Safety Report – Earrings

All children at Alton Park Junior School have to remove their earrings when taking part in physical activities such as PE lessons.  They cannot be taped.

As an Academy we choose to use the Local Authority Health & Safety Service. This means we must follow their advice in all areas to keep everyone safe on school premises. Please click on the following link to read the Health & Safety Report:-
